The Reboot has begun!

The past two days have seen life come back to my blog. I am doing my series of Gaming and Anime past, and adding some things, leading up to my revamp of my favorite characters list of all time. Since 2015, It stayed the same. So I need to add and subtract characters to make it more up-to-date. Look foward to that. However, as the 7.0 refresh happened, Homura Akemi magically vanished, and a new one, totally different from what came before, appeared. So, who is she?

As I promised on my “Hiatus” post 2 weeks ago, I have just changed my blog a bit. Instead of showcasing Homura Akemi, this time I am introducing my “Mascot” of my blog. Named Momoko Koizumi, she was born while playing Final Fantasy XIV…

At first as I was playing, I ended up using a Twintail-based hairstyle. However, once she turned Lvl 20, I felt it neccessary to change her hairstyle. Now, she looks a lot more mature than what she was.

I think eventually I will get some art commissioned for her, but in the mean time, I used a character creator to make the image you see on top. You may see other places she’ll pop up.

As to other things that may be posted, I know there is a Nintendo Direct going to happen at 5pm CDT tomorrow, so I may post something on that. Depends on what is shown in there.

Memories of Gaming Past 007-Lunar Star Story Complete

One of the series I am bringing back in the reboot is the Memories of Gaming Past. This series I  continued for a while unlike the other one which I had only 2 done before I got sidetracked back in 2015. Sooooo……

The next game on the list is the first game in the Lunar Franchise for the PS1, Lunar Silver Star Story Complete. What I remember of this game was the fact that it was harder than some of the other PS1 RPGs I was playing at the time, and it had cutscenes nicely animated by Studio Gonzo (!) for it’s time. And 30 minutes in the game, you get… Luna’s Boat Song. Very fond memories of playing this game and its sequel. Coming next: An adventurer’s quest to see the end of the world, and my favorite game in the PS1 era. (2 different games as the hint as to whats to come)
(Lunar Silver Story, 1999, PS1)

20+ years of Anime pt 3: Kimagure Orange Road

To Continue with the Reboot, I will be posting more of these recollections of Anime I watched the past 20+ years.  This and the Memories of Gaming Past posts will be continued…

20 years of Anime part 4: Kimagure Orange Road (Originally Aired in 1987)

As I left for overseas, it might have looked like my fandom would have died. However, after my shift was over, I did flip through some channels on my tv, picking up some Italian Channels. One of the channels shown anime on primetime (5 to 6 pm). Naturally, I tuned in, especially since the very first thing I saw was the end of the original Dragonball Series. Two weeks later, in it’s place, was another Shonen Jump title by the name of Kimagure Orange Road. This story was basically a love triangle between the main character, and the two females pictured above. It went on for 48 episodes, being stuck in the love triangle, as the main character did not want to hurt either of them. A subplot had the MC having ESP and other weird powers, but the main focus of the story was about these three.

The first movie, “I want to return to that day”, made the main character have to finally choose between the two, and it was very bittersweet. It is one of a few anime on MyAnimeList that I gave a 10 out of 10. To me, it was that good. The ending ballad, by Kanako Wada, is on my playlist.

Unfortunately, this show is Out of Print, so watching this legally can be a pain. Luckilly I got the series dirt cheap(Mostly on VHS, but I got the important parts(Like the Movie) on DVD so I can watch it. Note: I wrote this in 2015.(!) Since then, Discotek was nice enough to licence the series, the OVAs, and the Movie.

Note: Favorite Character in this series: Madoka Ayukawa(The one on the Left).

Joppy’s Collection: Kitsune Kon 2019

For a month, I have been wanting to do a Collection post from the Kon, but real life and the Hiatus continued to push it back. Now, at the end of v6.x of my blog, I am going to post the latest and greatest in my collection.

First off, it wouldn’t be me without new figures in my collection. And it wouldn’t be me without a Homura showing up. So, A new Homura appears.

Next up, the best character in Bang Dream in my honest opinion, Yukina Minato from Roselia, the best band in Bang Dream(Also my opinion, to be honest).

Finally, figure-wise, I needed a Rem to display, so Angel Rem in white works well.

Gamer Homura (My facebook avatar) got another plushie to join her, which is actually from Rebellion.

And then we got Baby Kyubey, whom while playing Magia Record, seems like he won’t turn into the Incubator we know and hate with a passion.(In the game, his name is Joppy. Coincidence? Nope.)

A bit smaller then the other three,I got Nero from Fate/Grand Order, my favorite servant in the game(Besides Dark Lord MHXAlter).

Finally, on day 3, I decided to get Megumin from Konosuba. Impulse buy, maybe, but worth it.

Somehow, in all the madness, I decided to take the plunge and nab some Weiss Schwarz cards to play eventually after I learn. Got this dirt cheap which included this box to store the cards…

….and this gaming mat.  Until I use it to play the game, I put it on my desk with my Madoka mat.

Card sets I got include Haruhi, Idolmaster Cinderella Girls…..

….Love Live, and Naturally Madoka Magica(Rebellion). So I will learn the techniques necessary to play and perhaps win.

Nintendo on Day 2 always has a presence, so I picked up a few things.

New keychains I am using right now include Homura’s Soul gem(Even though a vendor last year told me that Madoka items would stop popping up due to age, it seems like Magia Record is continuing the love for a while)…

And a Nero as well. Both are on my keychain and prominently displayed. Finally, a few odds and ends from the Kon: I found this guy as I was roaming around the vendors hall. It sits on my desk as a stand/pen that actually works.

And finally, surprised I found this coffee mug. Considering Precure of any form is rare to pop up, it’s nice seeing this. Even though Shirayuki Hime/Cure Princess was my favorite Cure for a few years, that seems to shifted to Cure Yell from Hugtto Precure.

And thus ends the Collection post. It was a long time in coming, so I am glad that this is finally done and I can plan on the next stage of my blog. Some posts I have done in the past will be taken down as the reboot finally commences. A new look may be in the cards as I try to get this blog going again. Hopefully it goes well…

Hiatus does suck…

Yep, the hiatus bug has struck again. From April of last year up to now, I lost all motivation to post anything worth while. Entering the 7th year of being at this blog, and  17 years since I started to blog as a whole, I want to get back in the swing of things soon. I will be posting one more collection post for Kitsune Kon 2019 which was a month ago and then start preparing for a reboot Sept 1, 2019. I’m hoping this will stick, and have a usable blog. I paid for the domain name, and I gotta make some use of it.

Joppy’s Goodies: March ’18

February was a bit lite in pick-ups for the month(Compared to previous months, it was really light.)

First off, I got my Aqours figure of the month. Yohane (Yoshiko) makes 4 of 9.

Next up is the import Tales of Vesperia for the PS3, Which is a seemingly the better version due to having Flynn as a playable character as well as the Pirate Patty (Voiced by Chiwa Saitou).

Following that is the Anime Classic Chobits, that is part of Operation Blu-ray. This would be the first CLAMP series I would watch and finish.

Next up for Movies I got a few, X-men Apocalypse and The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug. The X-men Franchise is only missing X2 of the original series and The Hobbit movies are complete.

Lastly for what is pictured, I nabbed Wreck it Ralph on Blu. Loved that movie since I am a gamer.

Not pictured is The middle part of the Crest/Banner of the Stars Trilogy on DVD, Banner of the Stars.

Speaking of gaming, I also picked up a Playstation TV (Vita TV) to be able to play most of my Vita games on my tv screen. It’s too bad Neptunia Rebirth 1 is incompatible, but I will make due.

Next in the near future, Another anniversary post, then the April goodies post.

Celebrating 20+ Years of Anime Part 3: Ranma 1/2

Celebrating 20+ Years of Anime Part 3: Ranma 1/2: Originally released on VHS in 94(!)

In ’99, I was looking at a comic store in search of things that would suit my fancy. I picked this show, and for the most part, was not disappointed. A curse causes a Martial Artist to change from guy to girl when splashed with cold water. Lots of other people get cursed into different beings, as well. The basis for most of the series is fighting, though. ….And the love Polygon that happens with most of the younger characters. This anime pretty much put Viz Media on the map years ago.

Note. This series has nudity in it. Not in a sexual way, for the most part, but its there. Japanese culture is way different than ours.

Memories of Gaming Past 005: The Legend of Zelda

The final game I played in the 3rd generation is naturally the Legend of Zelda. Spending hours on hours one Saturday to play this to its conclusion didn’t end well, (I got stuck on a level, and it took years to get back to this game…long story.) But the original was the game that is one of my all time favorites, and is the only NES title I somehow have.

Celebrating 20+ Years of Anime Part 2: Neon Genesis Evangelion

Continuing on a series I need to continue:

Celebrating 20 Years of Anime Part 2: Neon Genesis Evangelion (Originally released on VHS: Aug. 97)

In Early ’99, I went from watching only one series(Sailor Moon, Series #1) to trying new shows. I was in the military at the time, and one of the members shown me an anime which got me hooked. Even though the main character is a wimp(That’s saying it mildly), the show wowed me at the time. Now, it wouldn’t make the top ten list now, but it connected me to more shows, so it would be a likely gateway anime series.
